Product Development and Sample Coordinator

Job Summary

Conduct and oversee product development and onboarding efforts, including making samples in our test kitchen, commercializing recipes, and onboarding of new products and product changes within our systems and programs. Reports to CEO, works cross-functionally with Operations, Sales, and Marketing teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and actively contribute to:
  • Developing recipes from concept ideation through prototyping and launch.
  • Preparing new product samples for Sales and Marketing presentations
  • Participating in new product ideation and presentations with sales and marketing
  • Updating and re-sizing test formulations for samples of new and revised products
  • Participating in product improvement and reformulation projects, including yield improvements.
  • Maintain the R&D lab, including organizing, stocking, and cleaning.
  • Maintain proper documentation of formula development (recipes, methodology, deposit weights and baking losses) and track project progress in department folders

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

• Self-directed, self-starter
• A good understanding of food production and processes and an ability to translate lab concepts into finished products
• Demonstrates creative and analytical skills, ability to adapt to changing priorities, results and time oriented
• Effective organizer
• Hands on experience in cooking and flavor development
• Effective communicator - able to listen effectively
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Knowledge of basic computer systems

Required Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Proficiency Level

• A degree in Food Science or Food Technology from a recognized institution; or, education and experience in food-related Quality Assurance/Quality Control

Preferred

• R&D/product developer experience in the food industry
